Google translator:
*Carpa 5558* is now available for download. This issue continues the life journey of Doña Angustias and Casimira; furthermore, a future issue is planned that will be dedicated exclusively to the artist’s photographic work. As is customary for these posts, I have selected one of the volume’s introductory texts, followed by a few sample pages.
Nuestra actividad editorial quedo bajo mínimos y solo
The preparatory work for the volumes
dedicated to the history of photography—along with a second volume
focused on “Nene”—has occupied us for the entire past year. Our
editorial activity was reduced to a bare minimum; we only published
minor supplementary updates to previously released issues of *Carpa*:
1812, 1943, and 3388. Given the approaching summer holidays, I decided
to wrap up the year and postpone the publication of the two
aforementioned issues until the autumn, aligning their release with the
work being carried out by our other editorial teams and ongoing
projects. The publication of *Carpa* 3088 the previous year, combined
with the stir caused by Petia’s research, meant the entire team missed
out on a well-deserved break—a rest we are now finally taking, in the
form of an extended hiatus spanning, effectively, three summers.
Our readers will see that things did not go quite as planned; instead,
you are now viewing this new issue—*Carpa* 5558—which concludes our
investigation into the final fate of Angustias de la Soledad Martínez
Ribera and Casimira Vivar Garreta following their exile to the second
continent. When that previous issue went to press, Petia and the rest of
us promised to resume the investigation as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, however, delays in launching our project on the history
of photography—among various other factors—meant we were unable to
return to this research for perhaps a couple of years.
As mentioned in *Carpa* 3088, once that issue was finalized, Doña
Estrella set about tracking down and acquiring all the material related
to the artist that Petia had uncovered during her archival research.
While she occasionally hit a dead end, she also managed to unearth
previously unknown works by the artist—pieces that had long been
considered lost forever. Following the conclusion of her world tour, she
began combing through the second continent, yielding the findings that
prompted her second surprise visit to our editorial office. Accompanied
by Fina—for true love is, without a doubt, a beautiful thing—she shared
those findings with us. It served as an unnecessary nudge, prompting us
to set aside our well-deserved vacation and instead begin work on this
final volume dedicated to Doña Angustias. As a delightful bonus, it even
included an all-expenses-paid stay in Mira Verde, from where we could
carry out our work. Our followers can easily imagine the result: Mira
Verde is the dream summer destination for many of our citizens, making
any other vacation plan pale in comparison.
Before the pair’s departure, Tini had resolved all prior conflicts, and
the necessary permits and authorizations for our mission were quickly
secured. Doña Estrella and Fina would not be able to join us during the
research and writing of this new *Carpa* volume; they had been summoned
by the Council of the Eight Wise Women to lead an expedition to a
distant star system. One of its planets had shown signs of reaching an
evolutionary level comparable to our own, yet—for reasons unknown—it had
been left in ruins following a prolonged war. All files and documents
were transferred to Petia, who would use this new data to resume the
previously promised investigation. While the material provided by Doña
Estrella contained no definitive revelations, it certainly held the
promise of extraordinary results.
xenobiologa.
Our authority has authorized the
publication of this special issue without reservation—a gesture of
special regard for our "Estrellita" (little star). As has already been
noted, the venerable Doña Genoveva Dorcas de Aguirre Puertas has quite
taken to the xenobiologist, granting her every request. Consequently,
while official collaboration from the Third Mandate was declined, I have
agreed to accept this as an external project. Doña Estrella will
provide all necessary expenses and resources—I stand firm on this—and
our editorial team will handle the upload to our usual servers. However,
the customary physical edition for our subscribers will not be
produced; instead, this volume will be classified as one of those
"summer specials" that the Mandate occasionally permits. These specials
are undoubtedly a delightful surprise for our readers—always warmly
welcomed by enthusiasts of vintage photographic art—a tradition that
began with the first issue produced by our team and was subsequently
adopted by other editorial offices and, eventually, the entire Third
Mandate.
Given the festive spirit in which this *Carpa 5558* was conceived, I
have decided to let my editorial staff lean into the summer theme,
embracing the relaxed, carefree tone typical of a holiday period. The
section introductions and transitions will feature visual references
tied to this unique vacation. As always, Dorita will oversee the design,
maintaining the aesthetic direction established in *Carpa 1288*. It
serves as a perfect reflection of the era in question and provides an
ideal foundation for Petia’s research. Petia—along with Tini—has
effectively taken on the role of director for this edition; given their
unique nature, they are the only ones capable of balancing days spent in
the sun and on the beach with the most rigorous academic work. The
lives of our protagonists will unfold until their final days without any
major upheavals; liberated from tyranny, they will pursue their own
projects in complete freedom and without a single financial worry—each
dedicating herself to whatever she truly wishes to do. They will move
away from the pornographic genre; and while this may cost them some of
their former brilliance, they will attain a truly impressive level of
serenity and creative maturity. Though this shift will not directly
shape the evolution of postwar art, it will exert an indirect influence
through their connections with key figures of the new generations—as
hinted at by the oil painting on art board selected for the cover of
this issue. This piece was discovered by Doña Estrella—by pure
chance—during a courtesy visit to one of the major antique dealers on
the second continent. The painting had been in storage for some time;
given its signature—Paulina Antúnez Davila—it was dismissed as a mere
imitation (albeit a rather skillful one) of the work of Angustias de la
Soledad Martinez Ribera.
Had the antique dealer been a reader of our publications, she would
have prevented Doña Estrella from acquiring the piece for a pittance—and
spared herself the despair that followed the revelation of the
painting’s true creator. It was a bit of petty mischief on Doña
Estrella’s part, intended to settle some old commercial scores between
the antique dealer and the xenobiologist.
